Canada Day & Anand Sahib - 2

Today was quite busy in many ways. First in the morning around 11 am my mom and I left for the bus to go to downtown becuase it's Canada Day. We only went becuase museums are free today so we went around the museums. It was really nice. The first one we went to was the Museum of Contemporary Photography which was small but very nice and the second one was the National Gallery of Canada (ngc). The ngc is filled with paintings dating back to the 1800's to recent contemporary scuptures. It was very interesting becuase ive never been to an art gallery type of place before. My mom was very interested in the paintings from europe (england, fance, etc). I was more pulled towards the contemporary sculptures or paintings.

(Left) This was a sculpture we saw towards the end of our museum visit. It was a wheel on a chair. My mom asked me "How is this art?". I tried to answer but it was challening. I figured that is why it is called 'contemporary' - its modern and its very induvidual. I think its more like you have to read between the lines or think out of the box. You never know what the artist was thinking at the time of making this sculpture/peice of art up. Nevertheless its very beautiful.

(Right) This is the type of painting my mom really enjoyed. Its a painting done of an english couple i think. I think my mom goes more towards these paintings or peices of art becuase they are done with so much thought and you can really understand the value behind the art (not money wise).
Its a very nicely done peice.

The meseum as a whole is beautiful under the grace of Guru Sahib.

After we went to the museums we caught the bus and came home. It was a very nice experience.

Since nobody left a comment on my last blog regarding the meaning of the second line of Anand Sahib i will explain it here.

siqguru q pwieAw shj syqI min vjIAw vwDweIAw ]
I have found the True Guru, with intuitive ease, and my mind vibrates with the music of bliss.

In essence this line continues on from the first line in terms of translation and understanding. The first line of Anand Sahib is

Anµdu BieAw myrI mwey siqgurU mY pwieAw ]
I am in ecstasy, O my mother, for I have found my True Guru.

As the first line describes how one would be in complete bliss, complete ecstacy once they have found the True Guru, ultimately Guru Sahib. The second line says, "I have found the True Guru, with intuitive ease, and my mind vibrates with the music of bliss". Lets break this line into parts.

"I have found the True Guru"
- This is relitivly straight forward, saying i have found the true guru.

"with intutive ease"
- What does it mean by intutive ease? Everything falls under the grace of Guru Sahib. Such high states of spirtuality are not gained by ones doings as that works only at the lower part of the spirtual ladder. As one progress's ones will and ones hukhaam lies in the hands of Guru Sahib. Only his grace will help you become one with him in the end. Your deeds yes will help but only with his grace will you attain him. This is "ease", this is hukham, this beauty.

"and my mind vibrates with the music of bliss."
- What do we sikhs define as the music of bliss? The guru's shabad is the music of bliss. Whether it be gurmantar jaap, mool mantar jaap, keertan suniyeh, this is all the music of bliss as we are praising the lord in essence. When you have attianed Satguru Ji, your mind is constantly in tune with Guru sahib. You have become one with your creator therfore your mind sets on his name only and nothing else. You feel nothing, you hear nothing, you touch nothing but the Guru's True Shabad. This is when your mind truely vibrates.

Anand Sahib - 2

I went to a bhainjee's house yesterday, and came home late so i was unable to write a blog yesterday. But to write about my experience there first. Bhainjee (i will not name her) has 3 kids and might i say they are bundle's of energy! Kids never seem to want to sit still and talk, they more like to run around and play with 20 different things at once. Haha, but it was defintely a fun time with them. Two of the three children are boys and they are obbsessed with tabla; Bhainjee was saying that if they could play tablaa all day they would. But, i guess in a way its good becuase their dad 'veerjee' encourages them to sing keertan or say "Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji" when playing tabla. Its really nice to see such young children (ages 2 and 4) so involved with sikhi. Very inspiring. P.S.-The older son (4) can actually play tabla along with keertania; Very blessed child.

To continue on with the vichaar of Anand Sahib. The next line is-

siqguru q pwieAw shj syqI min vjIAw vwDweIAw ]
I have found the True Guru, with intuitive ease, and my mind vibrates with the music of bliss.

Actually, i would really like it if i could get the sangath's views on this line of Anand Sahib. What do you understand of it?..

Anand Sahib - 1
Vahegurujeekakhalsa, Vahegurujeekeefateh

Ive decided that this summer one of the things i want to do is to everyday write and try to interpret one line of Anand Sahib. I want to do this becuase at the present moment i know some of the meanings of Anand Sahib but not all so with Guru Sahib's grace, my understanding of the beautiful baani will grow here after.

I am in ecstasy, O my mother, for I have found my True Guru.

The first line of Anand Sahib is Raamkalee Mehalaa 3 Anand, which means in essence 'the song of bliss'. What is bliss? Bliss is eternal happiness that last's beyond our life here on earth.

The second line is Ik Oankaar Satigur Parsaadh, which is such a strong and in depth line beyond words. Our creator here on earth is Guru Sahib, Satguru Ji, Vaheguru, Guru Jee, God. He created nature, the world, human beings, and every creation surrounding us today. This is all by the grace of the guru.

The next line of Anand Sahib is - anandh bhaeiaa maeree maaeae satigur mai paaeiaa. This line explains how one would feel when the dicover of Guru Sahib has arisen. Ecstacy describes emmence happiness, bliss, joy beyond words. We mortals spend days, months, years begging Guru Sahib to see him, find his divine light. Imagine the day you absolutely have found it. The happiness you would feel inside. It would be beyond words, how could you explain to someone your joy when it is so deep? You just keep smiling, because you have found ETERNAL happiness. Your Guru has arrived under the veil of darkness that had been covering your eyes to behold his divine light.

Vahegurujeekakhalsa, Vahegurujeekeefateh

'Death' is something that the average person does not think about on a daily basis. Almost as if, we have some control over how and when we die. We have no control onto when we are to leave this world; Most people, wake up and think about what they have to do that day, but why not wake up and think, 'im so blessed to be given another day to live'.

This also rekindles a memory in my mind, on how my mother always says "____, you dont have to practise sikhi yet, wait until your older and have nothing else to live for"... But why? What if i dont live until im 80? What if i dont live until tommrow? What if i die today?.. I dont know, so why waste all these preciuos breaths, all these preciuos minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years in vain?...

Death is something we have to understand and realize can be right around the corner... so make the most of this preciuos human birth you have been blessed with..

Life is short
Life is so short, dont waste it in vain. Everymorning when you wake up say "Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj" to ensure your heart, mind, soul is connected to Guru Sahib all day. This human life is so preciuos, as preciuos as a diamond. Who knows after how many lifetimes we have finally recieved this human life, why are we constantly wasting the breaths we take that are such a blessing? Why are we not greatful enough to Satguru Ji, for all that he has given us. He has given all of us the oppertunity to attiain him, and become one with him.... Vaheguroo Jee..

The knower of all
Vahegurujeekakhalsa, Vahegurujeekeefateh

Its eleven am right now and im in the library at school. It's also lunch time and my friend is busy so i thought i would come
write a blog.

Anyways, i was just in Geography class and my teacher is very philosophical and he was explaining a recent incident that occured in Ottawa, Ontario. There was 17 males and they went to go buy a certain type of fertalizer that can also be used to make bombs. Eventually they were caught; However my teacher went on to talk about how the community will automatically hate that one community becuase a few people of their race/religion commited a sin/wrong doing. Which then he began to explain terrorism and how it affects the people of the world.

It was a very interesting class discussion and i learned a lot of things i naturally did not know about. Very insightful...

Anyways, during the class discussion my teacher was saying how there are people who are hired by the police to watch certain suspects for crimes for example. These undercover cops then slowely luer the people/person involved with the crime to become part of their plan. However in the end the undercover cop sell's them out to the police.

What this reminded me a bit was how Guru Sahib is always watching us. Some of us seem to think that if we do something Guru Sahib wont know, or he will never find out. Maybe its becuase of our iggnorant mind. However, becuase of the darkness covering our minds we are unable to see the divine light of Guru Sahib.
doesnt physically see his divine light. He is always there...
